One of the biggest drawbacks of educational system in developing countries such as ours is not the lack of education per se but the lack of quality education which results in some serious problems which are intractable in the current scenario. The severity of the situation reflects in the growing number of unemployed youth in India which is quite alarming at the moment. It is being increasingly felt by the educational policymakers that higher education has a big stake in this crisis since a large number of the pass-outs of various universities is unemployable due to lack of skills required in most vocations. Therefore, the New Education Policy, 2020 lays much emphasis on introducing Add-On courses in the syllabi of UG and PG students. These courses are supposed to be devised in such a way that the gap between the demand of employers and the incompetence of university graduates is bridged. Shia PG College, in compliance with this valuable insight from the prominent educationists of the nation, is committed to implement this policy in all the UG and PG courses. Hence, some very useful Add-On courses have been introduced by all the departments of various faculties. These include courses on Research Methodology, Pathological Techniques, Statistical Tools, and Computer Programming to name a few. It is hoped that the newly introduced courses will significantly increase the competence of our students and will immensely help them in meeting the demands of employers from the industry.
