About the department
The Department of Political Science was established in the year 1961. The department imparts teaching of political science to undergraduate students. It has a rich legacy of producing outstanding students who have been contributing greatly in nation building in India and abroad. Apart from pool of bright students, department also has had many remarkable teachers, like Prof. S.M.Saeed, who also happened to be a fonding faculty member and later went to the University of Lucknow, where he held positions such as Head as well as dean, faculty of Arts. He was also a Fulbright-Nehru fellow in 1980.
Vision
The Department of Political Science seeks to become a centre of excellence in the undergraduate study of political science and to prepare students to become well informed citizens as well as to make meaningful contribution to local, state and national politics.
Mission
To make students gain comprehensive and updated knowledge in various fields of Political Science such as Political Theory, Western and Indian political thought, Indian Political System, Comparative Governments, Public Administration and International Politics.
