In previous years, Shia College of Law organized one International and Six National Seminars Sponsored by University Grants Commission, New Delhi on various socio-legal problems. Several numbers of renowned Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts like Honorable Mr. Justice A.M. Ahmadi (Former Chief Justice of India), Honorable Mr. Justice J.S. Verma (Former Judge of Supreme Court), Honorable Mr. Justice Rajendra Sachchar, (Former Chief Justice, Delhi High Court), Honorable Mr. Justice M. Katju (Former Judge Allahabad High Court), Honorable Mr. Justice Vishnu Sahai (Former Lokayukta, U.P.), graced the occasion by their benign presence as Chief Guest in the seminars and also delivered their valuable lectures on different socio-legal problems. Apart from legal luminaries in the form of Judges, Justice, eminent Lawyers the participation of well-known journalists and social workers like Mr. Sharad Pradhan, Ms. Teesta Sheetalwad and many others adorned our college seminars with their benign presence and say.
So far as the performance of our budding lawyer (students) is concerned, in recent past years our students, Ms. Shewata Singh obtained one Gold Medal in the academic Session 1999-2000. Again, a brilliant student, Ms. Ambika Mehrotra Bagged 7 Gold Medals in the Session 2014-16. Presently she is working as a Judicial Magistrate in Uttar Pradesh. Again, in 2015 Ms. Ara Jahan obtained 02 Gold Medals. Further, Ms. Asha Tiwari in the Academic Session 2016-17 was awarded by 11 Gold Medals in Lucknow University Convocation.
In current academic session 2018-19, a bright student Ms. Ujala received 02 Gold Medals namely, Pandit Vishveshwar Prasad Mishra Smriti Gold Medal and K.L. Saxena Smriti Gold Medal in the Lucknow University Convocation held on 15.10.2019. Apart from giving academic knowledge to the students, Shia College of Law also imparts Human Values to its students so that they excel not only academically but also in humanity.
Shia College of Law has established a Legal Aid Clinic in its campus which serves the very interests of under privileged, marginalized and needy section of the society through providing the following services:
Legal Aid Clinic provides Legal services to the poor people in remote areas of the city with the help of students.
The aim through this service is to provide inexpensive local machinery to the poor and needy of the society. Legal services of basic nature like Legal Advices, Affidavit, writing complaint replies, RTI and similar documents are being constantly provided.
To make the people aware about their basic rights and remedies through personal interaction.
Last but not the least the sole aim of this task is to train our budding lawyers (future lawyers) to understand and tackle the problems and their solutions on real and pragmatic paradigms.
By the Grace of God and by sincere endeavors of College Management, Shia College of Law presently has its separate, well equipped, air condition updated library along with a spacious Reading Hall which has the capacity of more than 100 students at a time to sit and study there.
The library has updated compilation of All India Reporter, Supreme Court Cases, Criminal Law journals, Indian Bar Review and various other law journals and Reports. Internet facility to all students and teachers is available through WiFi Connection.
The Honorable Management of Shia College of Law Constructed it’s separate “Moot Court Hall” which is full of all modern facilities and is centrally Air Conditioned. Consequently, in recent years Moot Court team of Shia College of Law participated in various Moot Court competitions and obtained extra ordinary position by their good performance under the able and sincere guidance of our learned teachers which are as follows:
1. In International Moot Court Competition hosted by Amity University held on 12-13 October, 2018, the team of Shia College of Law bagged 13th position among other teams.
2. In National Moot Court Competition organized by Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.) held on 7-8 April 2018, the team of Shia College of Law ranked 8th position out of 24 teams coming from all the parts of India.
3. In National Moot Court Competition organized by Unity Law and Degree College, Lucknow on 7-9 Sep. 2018, the Shia College of Law, team obtained 15th rank out 32 teams.
4. National Moot Court Competition held on 14-16 March, 2019 hosted by Amity University, Lucknow, the team of Shia College of Law obtained 9th position out of 66 teams from all over India.
5. In Inter Collegiate Moot Court Competition held at Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, Lucknow held on 1-3 Nov, 2018, the college Moot Court team performed very well and achieved the award of “Best Mooter”.
A Basket Ball Court of International Standard was also constructed. Presently the college comprises two Blocks namely Hazrat Ali (A.S.) Block and Hasnain (A.S.) Block. Hazrat Ali (A.S.) Block has three Halls and several Class Rooms. Whereas Hasnain (A.S.) Block comprises 03 spacious classrooms which were completed in the year of 2001-02. Presently both the Blocks are being used exclusively for LL.B. (3 year Course) Classes.
Shia College of Law, publishes its annual “Law Review” with Articles of high values, written by well-known Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts, eminent Law Professors, Distinguished Lawyers and students as well. The College organizes National and International Seminars and Conducts researches and other academic projects and collection of Research Papers.
To become a good lawyer one has to be very judgmental and at the same time, highly rational. One has to be very communicative and should obtain a skill in writing. Students must be very confrontational, confident about himself / herself. For the purpose to develop all such virtues and capabilities, good personality, intellectual acumen and favorable legal environment, Shia College of Law, has an adequate number of dedicated, able and qualified faculty members. The contribution and the endeavors to establish and flourish the then “Faculty of Law” by the retired teaching faculties and incharges is praise worthy. We have the vision to achieve academic excellence in holistic professional education and emerge as an institute of excellence; develop high moral, ethical and professional standards among students, to face the challenge of national and international job market.
In a nutshell, Shia College of Law has following objectives of legal education:
1- To provide excellence in legal education.
2- To offer Support and advice for students who are interested for preparation of various competitive examination especially P.C.S. (J) exam etc.
3- To prepare and assist students in improving their future prospects through career counselling and support.
4- To educate and train students for community leadership and for civic- responsibility.
5- To inculcate in each students a sense of intellectual curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning.
6- To provide the curriculum for the purpose to promote holistic growth of students and make them complete person.
The Board of Trustees of Shia P.G. College and Management, has the vision to strive towards meeting the social needs, by inclusion and expansion of newer streams of academics in its institution and provide most advance latest infrastructure for learning, research and application of knowledge, not only this but also the Honorable Management has always a vigilant eye for the betterment of Shia College of Law as a whole.
